Lara Cole is back in Oregon, this time for a mini-vacation through the breathtaking vistas of the Columbia gorge, Crater Lake, and the splendors of Southern Oregon. She is accompanied by George Graham, her surrogate father/FBI agent/mentor and his wife Alma. Alma, a teacher , makes sure they know what they are seeing.
Lara has promised “Stoney”, her six foot tall, kick-ass lawyer friend, to help find out who is responsible for taking homes from the poorest of the poor in the Roseburg area. This puts Lara in contact with some very dangerous people, and threatens to fit her for “the wooden overcoat”.
Meanwhile, that soul-seducing singer, David, is back, promising that every lyric is a shelf upon which memories can be stored. The romance is real, but can it endure both the corners of life’s turmoil and the danger that constantly pursues Lara?
